To Spill The Beans!

The idiom of today is "to spill the beans"! Do you have an idea about a possible meaning!? Have a guess, because this is funny in my point of view. 


So, it comes from the ancient Greece because in that period of time beans were used to vote. White beans meant positive votes and black beans negative. Votes had to be unanimous and if the collector spilled the beans before the votes were concluded, the ballot would be halted. 


The meaning is let out or divulge a secret.

The according of my interpretation if the collector spilled the beans before the end of the ballot, it would be halted and a "secret/result of the ballot" would be counted.
