To put one's foot in one's month!

Heey!

I try to sign in my blog everyday to keep publishing. Every now and then I check the overviews and I have been noticing that I have many pageviews from Russia!!! I am very thankful for that! Well, I am getting at why I decided to come out with this idiom. It's because I know that there's exactly this idiom in russian and today I'm gonna write about it to do homage to them.

I know it because I have some classmates from Russia and they told me about that.

You put one's foot in one's month when you say something insulting, hurtful and embarassing that you regret.

For example: I told Mary I had never seen her hair more beautiful before, but I really put my foot in my month because it was a wig.

In the last weekend John went to some houseparty. When he got in, there was a big mess. He asked a girl whose was that messy house and he did put his month in his foot, because that was hers house.

The idiom "stick one's foot in one's month" is quite the same.

Hope you got it :)
